The Tam Houses
Here is what life is like at the Tam Houses: Residents are a diverse, interesting, thoughtful group of men and women over the age of 63 who have qualified based on income (see "Contact Us" section for further details on this) and who have decided that they want to live in a group environment yet remain independent. Each has a private bedroom; eleven of the bedrooms have private "en-suite" bathrooms and the other ten share a bathroom with one other person.
Residents share four nicely furnished living/media rooms, two dining rooms, three sunny patios and decks, two porches, vegetable and flower gardens, free laundry facilities and supplies. The monthly charge includes utilities. Cable TV and Internet connections are available in each room with the cost to be paid by the resident.
In the late afternoon our chefs prepare a wonderful evening meal for both houses, consisting of organic vegetables, many grown in our own gardens, fresh ingredients and the talented, loving hand of the cooks. Residents get together for dinner and chat in the evening. Food for self-prepared light breakfast is provided, and lunch is "on your own". Residents share some light household chores, such as taking the garbage out.
Our active residents enjoy being involved in local work opportunities or volunteer in libraries, schools or hospitals. Some stay nearer the house, doing what they love to do: gardening, sewing, emailing, creating artwork, helping with minor chores, walking and much more.
Incredibly, life at Tam is possible for an average of $900 per month (and, yes, we accept Section 8 vouchers). A person with an income of $1400 can live a good life in lovely San Anselmo. Could Tam House become Your Home?
